Last year, Montclair photographer Claire Rosen was recognized by W magazine for her creative eye, and 2010 has seen more of the same for the artist. Her work has been singled out for inclusion in the Communication Arts 2010 Photography Annual; Prix de la Photographie Paris awarded her the first-place prize in the Advertising-Fashion category of its annual competition; she made the short list in the Sony World Photography Awards; and Artists Wanted, whose website artistswanted.org helps create opportunities for emerging photographers, included Rosen in “Exposure,” its list of artists to watch.
Rosen teaches photography at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey in Summit and keeps up a busy commercial and artistic practice. As her work continues to find new audiences, the accolades that continue to stack up are letting her know that her photographic career is on the right track. “I am quite lucky that I get to create work that I love and enjoy making,” she says, “and it’s rewarding to have it receive this type of professional and creative recognition. It gives me confidence to keep putting it out there”
